On Monday, November 21, 2022, a deadly earthquake hit the town of Cianjur, West Java, Indonesia. The earthquake was about six miles below the Earth’s surface, and more than one million people experienced strong tremors. The magnitude 5.6 quake reduced buildings to rubble, killing more than 300 people, injuring hundreds of people, and leaving more than 70,000 people displaced.
